Daniel Radcliffe is explaining why he has just filmed a public service announcement for The Trevor Project, the leading organization focusing on suicide prevention efforts among gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered youth. Because his parents were both actors, “I grew up knowing a lot of gay men and it was never something that I even thought twice about - that some men were gay and some weren’t,” the “Harry Potter” megastar said Friday. “And then I went to school and (for) the first time … I came across homophobia. … I had never encountered it before. It shocked me. “I have always hated anybody who is not tolerant of gay men or lesbians or bisexuals,” he added. “Now I am in the very fortunate position where I can actually help or do something about it.” “I have described myself as being gently eccentric’ and slightly different as a person just because I’ve had a very different set of influences growing up than anybody else in my peer group did,” the 20-year-old Radcliffe said. “I’ve always felt very lucky to have the life that I’ve had. I never had to cope with anything serious about my religion or sexual orientation or anything like that. So is Daniel telling us that he is gay?

Sexy thespian Daniel Radcliffe was the highest paid actor in Hollywood in 2009. The 20-year-old actor - who plays the title character in the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise - was paid a staggering $40.9 million last year according to a list of the top 40 earners by Vanity Fair magazine, making him the most bankable actor in Hollywood. Daniel - who has already used some of his earnings to build up a property portfolio in Britain and the U.S. - also beat his co-star, Emma Watson, 19, who made $31.9 million. The Hogwarts actors and actresses are also set to have another couple of years worth of money heading their way with the next two films which will be released in November and July 2011. The list of Hollywood earners was made based on factors such as up-front fees, box office gross percentages and other estimated revenue streams. Other top stars to make the list included Ben Stiller in seventh place, Tom Hanks in eighth, Adam Sandler in the tenth spot and Denzel Washington a place behind him.
