Paul Bettany hates Los Angeles because there are too many British people there. The London born actor is happy now that he lives in New York because he hated encountering his fellow countrymen who don’t understand U.S. humor. He said: “I think it’s a fallacy about the English sense of humor. Los Angeles is full of English people that say Americans have no sense of irony. Actually, Americans have a lot of irony, and you just haven’t noticed. That’s the one thing I loathed about Los Angeles - the (expletive) Brits. “I avoid the ex-pat community. You know what’s so depressing? Going to pubs in America to  watch football. It’s not the same and I don’t want to pretend it’s the same.” While the 38-year-old star settled quickly into life in New York, he admits he occasionally  wishes he was in his home country.

KATE WINSLET is being helped through her marriage breakdown by pal LEONARDO DiCAPRIO, it was revealed yesterday. They shot to fame playing young lovers in the Titanic and were reunited on screen two years ago in Revolutionary Road - directed by her husband SAM MENDES. But the stress of filming Revolutionary Road - where Kate and Leo had to shoot steamy sex scenes in front of Mendes - has been pinpointed as the beginning of the end of their marriage. But her friendship with Leo, 35, was re-kindled and he became a shoulder to cry on as cracks appeared in her six-year marriage. Leonardo is great guy to be helping her heal.

Shia LaBeouf is staying quiet about his personal life, but he was much more forth coming about his car accident in July 2008 - for which he was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) but never charged - admitting he is still “angry” about the crash, which resulted in his left hand being permanently damaged. He added to GQ magazine: “I’d be watching the news, and they’d play my car crash, and every once in a while Kim Kardashian’s sister, Khloe would jump on TV and preach to me from the red carpet about how to live my (expletive) life. “And I’m so upset, man. I’m so angry. Because this accident was not caused by me. I got hit. I had a green. This (expletive) ran a red light. And he flipped my truck, and he shoveled it on my hand. And my fingers are in the street. they’re off, they’re under the truck door, man. “My hand is fake, dude. This is hip bone and the skin that was left over.” Ouch, but one really shouldn’t drink and drive.

Ryan Seacrest shirtless

A  strange man has repeatedly shown up at Ryan Seacrest’s work and events has pleaded no contest to felony stalking. Chidi Benjamin Uzomah Jr. entered the plea Tuesday in Los Angeles and was ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. Uzomah was arrested Oct. 30 after he showed up at the E! Entertainment Television headquarters trying to contact Seacrest. The incident was also a violation of a restraining order issued in another case in which Uzomah admitted attacking one of Seacrest’s bodyguards at an event. Now that is scary. The popular host of “American Idol” and a radio show obtained a civil restraining order against the 25-year-old.  He faces up to two years in state prison if found guilty.

We chatted to The Hurt Locker’s Jeremy Renner (who was a presenter with Jodie Foster) as he was playing with an LG Electronics Kompressor vacuum, and the Oscar-nominee sucked the air out of any rumors that he’s dating Jessica Simpson. “It’s all bullshit,” says Renner, smiling at the rumors that have piggybacked his Best Actor nod. So, there’s no one special at home getting riled up at the implications? “My family cares, no one else,” says the single star. Meanwhile, after Sunday’s big night, Renner only has one plan. “Sleep,” and maybe a vacation. “India’s on my list,” he says.

Burt Reynolds nude

Burt Reynolds’ manager says the actor has been released from a Florida hospital after a planned heart bypass operation. So news about his death have been exaggerated. Erik Kritzer said in a statement Wednesday that Reynolds had been scheduled for the operation for over a month. Kritzer says the star of “Smokey and the Bandit,” “Deliverance” and “Boogie Nights” told him that he has “a great motor with brand new pipes” and is “feeling great.” Last year, Burt spent time in a Florida rehab center seeking treatment for painkiller abuse following back surgery. Burt Reynolds is still hot and going strong at 74 and we wish him a speedy recovery.
